Adam is a Green Bay native, transplanted in Madison for college all those years ago. HIs family remains up north, though scattered throughout the Green Bay and Appleton areas. He has 2 older brothers, 3 nieces and 2 nephews.

Kelley originates from Sauk City, with one older sister in the Stoughton area. Her parents remain in the Sauk City area, though there's been talk of moving south for years.

In 1994, Adam and Kelley met by a complete accident. A great friendship followed and for years, they enjoyed a special bond that time and distance couldn't sever. In 2001 they were spending all their time together when something shifted and their feelings about each other started to change. They started dating in 2001, bought their first home together in 2002, were married in 2003, and welcomed their first foster child in 2008.
